John 16:25-33 I Have Overcome The World
I have overcome the world.
One of the boldest statements made by Jesus in my opinion.
Here is Jesus, on the end of His time here on earth about to be taken by the "world", beaten, put on a cross to die, and He says "I have overcome the world"
Not "might". Not even "will". I "have"!
I often wonder about my life as a Christian. I know I am supposed to emulate Christ in my daily walk, but do I show such boldness? Am I letting my "Christian humility" get in the way of my "Christ-like boldness"?
Maybe I don't believe He has overcome the world, yet.
It is a lot easier to fit into my daily walk if Jesus hadn't already overcome the world. If we were waiting for a future event by Jesus before we really walked the walk.
Think about it. If we still were waiting for Jesus to do the final blow to this world and it's power we could use that excuse to live lives less than the ones we were called to.
On judgement day we could actually blame Jesus for the delay. "Well I would have walked in boldness but Jesus didn't get around to finishing His job yet".
Do you think that will "fly"?
So then why do I still live like the world has me by the tail? Why am I afraid? Why am I living in defeat much of the time? Why do I let the world have ownership on this planet/ It doesn't you know.
I pray for boldness for all of us. I pray that we might take what is ours and live the lives we are called to.
Just like the spies into the promised land we need to realize we can take these giants!
Be Blessed.
