John 10:22-42 I and my Father are One
This chapter contains one of the most precious promises in the Bible (as far as I am concerned).
Joh 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
To think that once we are in Jesus' hands, we cannot be taken out of them. Or at least "snatched".
I know a lot of people use this to support their view of "once saved - always saved".
I do not fall into that camp.
I am not trying to get into the discussion of the points of that doctrine. This scripture is full of promise regardless of which side you align your belief on.
Just to know that resting in Jesus is so secure that not even the enemy can take us away from him. Not life of death, not creatures above or below, not peril, not heartache, not anything.
The question for me, then, is can boredom?, can betrayal?, can false teachers?, can temptation?, can hurt?
It is so good to know that somewhere, in the midst of all the things that could go wrong we have a place of trusting in Jesus. Trusting in Him to carry us through any situation.
Here is one of my favorite hymns that talks about this very issue.
Words: Louisa M. R. Stead, 1882. These words are said to have written been after Stead witnessed her husband drown.
Wilt be with me to the end.

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”
Refrain
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.
I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
